Our People

  • Jennifer Michelmore

    CHIEF EXECUTIVE

    BDes(IndDes)

Jennifer is an accomplished urbanist and designer, and has been part of the THI family for over 15 years. Having established her career with the organisation in community development, she’s also worked across strategy and change, and is now at the helm of the organisation. Jennifer completed her study in Industrial Design at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where she’s also been a guest lecturer. Her strong design and conceptual capabilities drive her aspirations for achieving bold and innovative outcomes that can shape urban places and practice. She’s a big believer in power of co-creation and collaboration, and has played a central role in securing THI’s position as an independent platform for urban professionals and communities to come together. Jennifer has established respectful, long-term relationships within the global urban development sector and has worked across a number of major urban development projects. Outside of the studio, Jennifer is generally chasing the tails of her two children or creating culinary chaos–she’s never one to follow a recipe. She’s also been known to plough through a good book with voracious speed. Her guilty pleasure is listening to country music...no surprise given she grew up on 85,000ha of cattle country in Central Queensland!

  • Peter Browning

    URBAN & COMMUNITY TRANSITION LEAD

    BSocWk(Hons) BFA

With more than 30 years’ experience in urban community and economic development, Peter is well credentialed to lead our urban change strategy and program offering. Since joining Studio THI, in 2006, Peter has helped develop place-based strategies centred on the needs of communities for clients across local and state governments, and the education and property development sectors. He has been a major contributor to large-scale urban regeneration projects and has been part of the strategic development of education and knowledge precincts. Peters' practice is underpinned by an understanding of the challenges and opportunities that urban transition presents for government and communities. He is a highly skilled facilitator and his experience in undertaking community and urban change is grounded in developing corporate capabilities that can sustain successful transitions. Not shy of making a splash, when he’s not in the studio, Peter can be found at his local pool – cutting laps or keeping up with choreographed aqua aerobics routines. He is also a keen cyclist, bush walker and mountaineer and has been known to lead groups astray in the hills of South East Queensland. Peter’s hidden talents include painting, history but sadly not in song and he wishes he was a better singer.

  • Studio THI content strategist Heath Murray

    Heath Murray

    CONTENT & COMMUNICATIONS

Heath is a strategic communications expert specialising in community-building. It’s a source of significant frustration to Heath’s young children but if he has a superpower, it’s storytelling. And encouraging people to listen and be heard. Drawing on his strong background in journalism, community engagement, communications and marketing, Heath uses his experience and enthusiasm to translate complex ideas into clear, concise, and relatable communication that informs and inspires audiences. Heath has worked with state and local governments and some of Australia’s best-known companies to strengthen stakeholder and community engagement and improve brand recognition and reputation. When he’s not working (and occasionally when he is), Heath can be found walking in the bush, cities, and on the beach - and reading, in the bush, cities, and on the beach.
